From the Minister's
Desk
If You Don't Want To Be A Servant
"A
disciple is not above his teacher, nor a
servant above his Lord. It is enough for
the disciple that he be as a teacher,
and the servant as his Lord. If they
have called the master of the house
Beelzebub, how much more them of his
household. "
(Matt 10:24-25 ASV)
In most occupations there is only
one person at the absolute top, everyone
else is a part of the support staff. If
one hangs in there long enough, the top
position may open up. This is possible
in the affairs of men.
Though this is true in the
business sector, there is no top
position to be acquired in the business
of our God. The top position has already
been given to Christ and will continue
until time no longer exists (I
Corinthians 15:25-28). In this most
important business of spiritual warfare
you can never own the business. (Matthew
16:18). In the business of God, you can
never rise above the position of
servant, "But you are not to be called
'Rabbi,' for you have only one Master
and you are all brothers. And do not
call anyone on earth 'father,' for you
have one Father, and he is in heaven.
Nor are you to be called 'teacher,' for
you have one Teacher, the Christ. The
greatest among you will be your servant.
For whoever exalts himself will be
humbled, and whoever humbles himself
will be exalted." (Matthew 23:8-12 NIV)

Welcome One and All
Welcome to the website of the Almeda Church of
Christ. We hope that you find the information on
the proceeding pages edifying, encouraging and
informative. If you find yourself in the
Southwest Houston area we would love for you to
grace our family with your presences. Upon your
visit we believe as you study and worship with
us you will find that our church is identical in
every way to the church that you can read about
in the New Testament. We are simple in our
teaching and our services. We are not here to
put on a show but to simply point those who
visit back to the Bible in order to get the
simple truth of God's word. So stop by and
worship with us as we worship God both in Spirit
and in Truth.

GETTING IT
STRAIT IN 2008
Matthew 7:13-14, "Enter
ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate,
and broad is the way, that leadeth to
destruction, and many there be which go in
thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow
is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few
there be that find it." |
